Adam J. Edelstein: Brooklyn, NY's Divorce Legal Expert
Enriching The Tradition of Being New York's Best
I am in a tough business. Clients always tell me "I don't know how you do this!" At times it gets downright ugly. However, for the most part I believe that the end of the case is somewhat predictable, almost from the get go.
I work hard right off the bat to achieve my clients' goals, yet always with an "end game" in mind, counseling them to be reasonable in light of the likelihood and chances of success. Ultimately this saves clients' from needless aggravation and wasted attorneys' fees. I try to think like the Judge I'm before and advise my client accordingly. I assist the client to weigh the costs and the benefits, to be reasonable and make every effort to settle the case if it's worth it, but to fight to the bitter end when necessary.
Having practiced for more than 15 years and learned from my father who has been in this business for more than 40, I learned many "little secrets," which many divorce lawyers won't tell clients; that most of the cases settle at some point when results become somewhat predictable. Thus the best tool one can use to get what they want is a skilled and dogged negotiator who can get it done before it gets to be a costly, wasteful and aggravating mess left in the hands of one Judge, or as one of my favorite Judge likes to say, left to the "stranger in back robes" to clean up." Not a good idea.
